The IHI Alliance was created as an international not-for-profit organization to uphold the integrity of the halal market concept in global trade through the establishment of global halal standards, recognition, collaboration and membership in April 2007.
The formation of IHI Alliance was the outcome of a resolution that was passed at the inaugural World Halal Forum in May 2006 by international delegates representing all areas of the halal market value chain from approximately 30 countries.
The World Halal Forum in 2006 marked the first time in history that issues affecting the halal market place were brought to light in a professional and open global arena. The forum was officiated by Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Chairman of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).
After developing eight pioneering global halal standards and raising awareness on the halal market concept on the international scale, the IHI Alliance ended its role as a not-for-profit entity in 2017. The eight standard developed are on Animal Feed, Animal Welfare, Slaughter and Processing, Food Services, Cosmetic and Personal Care, Muslim-Friendly Hospitality, Logistics and Laboratory Testing and Analysis for Halal.

She has been a strong global proponent of the need to communicate and apply good, ethical and Islamic values in a more universal, inclusive and contemporary manner for across the board audiences and sectors. She has created business platforms for diversified high-level stakeholders in 23 countries, religio-economic developmental plans and consultancies for governments and industries.
Haji Rafek Saleh

Haji Rafek Saleh has 39 years working experience in the Halal Audit & Compliance Department for Malaysia Airlines.
He holds a degree in Islamic Jurisprudence from Islamic Academy – University Malaya and one of the recipients of the prestigious “Maulidur Rasul Award” from His Royal Highness Malaysian King Tuanku Ja’afar Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman for outstanding contribution to Islam and the Ummah. He has trained over 5,000 In-flight catering and food suppliers worldwide from since 1997.
6 years experience in Marketing and Advertising from a various industry. Started his career with GLC, and he moved to PR and Marketing company. Pursuing his interest in creative, he joined one of the successful Ad-Agency. He holds Diploma in Public Admin and Bachelor of Administrative Science from UITM but it doesn’t stop him to be and to choose his career path today.
